VOLUME THREE
We visited Prague in August, right when the world was opening up again. The weather was great. We only went because my wife's parents were going to be there and we wanted to meet up. We got the same Uber driver from the airport to Old Town that we did from Old Town to the airport (3 days later haha). We went to an Absintherie and had the most hilarious bartender ever. Like, he was a little manic with crazy eyes but laughed so much the whole bar just kept laughing with him. We got up early one of the days and explored the city before it woke up. Empty streets, that were very clean, Charles Bridge was essentially empty, which we found out later in the day is not always the case. We had beef stroganoff in Old Town Square outside under a big umbrella. It started to rain and our waiter was a Czech man who had lived in Chicago for most of his life. It felt like the city was just fresh off of a vacation. Feeling alive and vibrant. We look forward to heading back one day, definitely go if you get the chance. (and try an absinthe drink)
LYRICS
I didn't know what to expect
As we made our way into town
Remnants of a past regime
And a recent freedom found
A new made independence
A curtain torn in two
A people living their lives
However they decide they want to
Streets out of a fairytale
With a fresh coat of paint
We got silly on absinthe
We sat and watched the rain
We heard blues in a basement
And met up with old friends
For Prague she is a beauty
And I can't wait to see her again
Got up early to beat the crowds
Like we always try to do
Watched the city begin to stir
Found a cafe just for two
Saw Lennon's peaceful influence
Walked the Charles at the break of day
Met Czech man from Chicago
Saw a naked woman walking down the lane
Streets out of a fairytale
With a fresh coat of paint
We got silly on absinthe
We sat and watched the rain
We heard blues in a basement
And met up with old friends
For Prague she is a beauty
And I can't wait to see her again
For Prague she is a beauty
And I can't wait to see her again
